  • I connected with LegalCORPS for legal consultations last June, which had a good turnout, and we’ve got plans in the works for 2025 on programs: one for pro se applicants and one on AI and trademarks.
  • We have brought back virtual quarterly IP talks. They introduce PTRC resources, talk a bit about the basics, give an overview of the application process, and introduce basic searching.

  • Established collaboration with the Mississippi Bar Association IP and Entrepreneurship Section and the Small Business Development Center in Starkville

  • The PTRC in the Thomas Yoseloff Business Center of New York Public Library continued to offer monthly public classes on patents and trademarks.
  • In October 2024, Raymond Wang, who was the PTRC representative in the Free Library of Philadelphia, joined the reference librarian staff in the Business Center.
  • Raymond has created a class called Introduction to Intellectual Property.

  • The Engineering Library participated in the College of Engineering’s Engineering Discovery Days. This 2-day event is aimed at K-12 students, with a focus this year on grades 4-8. Librarians created an exhibit about how engineers invent, design, and create solutions, highlighting young inventors: Kids Invent! Imagine Yourself as an Engineer!
  • I was a guest speaker about patents and trademarks for a UW Information School course on government publications.
  • A colleague and I guest lectured to the new cohort of students in the Master of Applied Bioengineering program.
