  • Their student team won the Make48 (Corteva) Design Challenge by designing a solution to corn seed planting orientation.
  • The comments said they won in large part because of their problem identification.

      • I gave an IP presentation followed by a rapid innovation sprint in a 2-hour ideation event at the conference
      • UAF and the PTRC had a conference booth, and saw over 200 Alaskans involved in the mariculture space

      • Broward County Library celebrated its 50th anniversary and the Broward County Main Library and the Fort Lauderdale PTRC celebrated their 40th.
      • In May 2024, Eileen created a book display for National Inventors’ Month using attractive signage. She also created a popular self-directed passive program in conjunction with the book display titled “Celebrate ‘May the Fourth’ During National Inventors’ Month by Coloring Your Favorite Star Wars Design Patents,” featuring 12 different Star Wars themed design patents for coloring.

      • Staffing Change: We welcomed Kevin Allen as Patent and Trademark Librarian and Jerome Nicolas as U.S. Government Information Librarian. Both come with extensive librarian experience. Jerome has since transitioned to lead our Serials Section. Additionally, our Library Assistant, Emelinda Casco, has officially taken on the role as our library’s permanent Administrative Secretary.
      • In September, Jerome and Kevin participated in the Hawaii Pacific University Student Resource Fair for outreach.
      • The Ornamental Patents Coloring and Christmas Tree Decorating Activity program was offered again in December.
