The Salt Lake City PTRC was designated a Patent Depository Library (PDL) in 1984 with Juli Hinz – head of the Government Documents Division – as the first Patent Representative. I was hired as one of the government documents librarians and joined the J. Willard Marriott Library at the University of Utah in January 1987. A little more than thirty years later, and I am now about to retire in August 2017.

Gary Klockenga continues as the San Diego PTRC representative. Designated on January 26, 1984, the PTRC is located in the Government Documents Department the Central Library. Working in conjunction with our Innovation Center, we are very busy connecting with our local entrepreneurs. In conjunction with the San Diego Mayor’s Office, we were delighted to host the Commissioner of Patents and Trademarks this past year at a seminar for the local IP community. Nan Myers and I, Sara Butts, are the representatives of the Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC) at Wichita State University’s Ablah Library, located on the main campus of the university. The library has been a PTRC, originally a Patent and Trademark Depository Library (PTDL), since 1991. Myers is an Associate Professor Emeritus and has been working with patents, trademarks, and government documents for over 20 years. She now works part-time and meets with patrons by appointment.
