Saint Louis Public Library, Central Library

Established in 1870, the Saint Louis Public Library (SLPL) was one of the first twenty-two libraries that were known as a: “Patent and Trademark Depository Library”. Between 1987-1988, Linda Terhune was the 3rd PDL Fellowship Librarian. Carol Giles-Straight, was the 12th Fellowship Librarian from 1996-1997. In 1989, the Saint Louis Public Library received a CASSIS computer as part of a pilot study with the USPTO. Oklahoma State University, Edmon Low Library

The Oklahoma State University Library has been a Patent and Trademark Depository Library since 1956. We are housed in the main University Library and are part of the Government Documents Department, a regional depository for federal government documents. This year, seventy percent of the federal materials on our floor were relocated to remote storage to make room for a learning center/lab for the Math Department.

In 2012 the PTRC in University Park at the Pennsylvania State University Libraries increased its collaboration with the Smeal College of Business and again hosted representatives from the USPTO. In September Mr. Craig Morris, Managing Attorney for Trademark Outreach, visited us to present the USPTO’s Trademark Educational Outreach Program to an audience of business, engineering, and entrepreneurial students. John Meier, the PTRC librarian, was invited to over a dozen classes to speak on intellectual property issues with special focus on the America Invents Act (AIA). Continue reading

This newsletter of The PTRCA and the 2013 PTRC Program’sTraining Seminar will be my swansong, as I am retiring in early June. I have to say that my professional relationships with the PTRCA and the staff at the PTRC Program have been among the highlights of my library career.
