After a milestone 35th anniversary training seminar, the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Program decided to go a little “Hollywood”. This year the PTRCP office has ventured into producing, premieres, pilots, and more!

Like many of you I was shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of our longtime friend and colleague, Esther Crawford (Houston). Her professional achievements were many. Her contributions to this association were enormous. In recognition of her service to the PTRCA, it was proposed that a new association award be created to honor Esther. Continue reading

Patent Office Speech – Local Boy Does Good (2013)

Russ Allen, our guest speaker at the 2013 PTRC Annual Seminar, has written an article about his experience with us which he submitted his tool club’s newsletter. When he first wrote it, he asked that we not share or publish the article until after it was published in the newsletter, because he wanted it to be published there first. It turns out that it won’t go into the newsletter until March 2014 so he has given PTRCA permission to post it to our site. Continue reading

2013 PTRCA President’s Report

2012/13 was the first year the Association operated under its new name: the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Association. The name was chosen by members to reflect the name change of the Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program to the Patent and Trademark Resource Centers Program. This also reflects the move away from simply collecting depository items and putting them on a shelf to a more interactive place where information can be found and utilized in many formats. Continue reading

Spring is fast approaching here in the Washington D.C. area and with spring comes the Annual Patent and Trademark Resource Center Training Seminar. This year we will be celebrating the 35th training seminar.

I can remember the big bash we threw to celebrate our 25th year –dinner at the newly renovated United States Botanic Garden with music by the “Old Time Players,” Jim Miller and David Morrison. Continue reading

Updated Membership Form Now Available (2013)

The updated membership form reflecting our new dues structure has been added to the site. See http://ptrca.org/files/PTRCAmembershipForm073112.pdf. Membership Dues are $50 per year (2012/13) and will rise to $65 per year starting with 2014/15. Currently-enrolled library school students are eligible for affiliate membership at a reduced rate of $10.
