PTRC Grand Opening (three events) Tuesday -Thursday, September, 2023.
Held at Georgia Southern University at Savannah campus on Wednesday, September 27 and Statesboro campus on September 28.
Had a separate training workshop for regional librarians from the Coastal Georgia Library Collaborative (CGLC) in Savannah.
Keynote speakers included: Deputy Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property, Derrick Brent (See top photo), multiple Georgia Southern administrators, including Dr. Dominique Halaby, Associate Provost for Innovation & Commercialization and Director of the Business Innovation Group.
Presenters included: Tomeka Oubichon(Eastern Regional Outreach Officer), John Schlipp, Spruce Fraser, and Rob Berry (See bottom photo left to right).
John Schlipp, and Graduate Assistant Kris Kalliesoffered a program entitled, “Savannah-Statesboro Area Intellectual Property History Tour”. It highlighted hidden innovation stories of regional and state inventors over the last 250 years. (Special thanks to librarian colleague Caroline Hopkinson who was very supportive at the Savannah campus).
Their PTRC interacted with nearly 600 direct PTRC Customers in 2023:
208 attended outreach classes.
315 attended classes and training sessions.
72 people met for research consultations.
123 inventors actively pursuing patents.
7 small businesses/non-profits pursuing trademarks.
20 individuals pursing other intellectual properties including copyrights.
