The Seattle PTRC is located in the Engineering Library at the University of Washington.
The last year has been one of building improvements and library systems change.
Our “re-imagination” of the first floor of the Engineering Library is complete with new furniture, outlets and a reconfigured computing area, as well as a combined Information Desk. We are still planning on a PTRC Research Area to accommodate a PTRC-dedicated workstation and a small work space. I hope to finish up this space later in the Spring Quarter or Summer. In the meantime, we are testing access to PubEAST, etc. on guest workstations.
I continue to enjoy my annual “patents & trademarks” guest lecture in the UW Information School Government Publications class. I am pleased by the interest shown by future information professionals. I created a LibGuide in support of the class which has turned into a training tool for our student reference specialists.
Most of the past year has been occupied with switching to a new shared integrated library system (Ex Libris) with the Orbis Cascade Alliance. This has not been without issues: intricacies, complexities, and impacts large and small abound!
