The University of Utah and the J. Willard Marriott Library have been a PTRC since 1984. With two librarians providing support for the PTRC, we have increased our visibility throughout the state. We have created new promotional materials, increased outreach, and offered more classes.Image 1: Tallie Casucci worked with our graphic design team to create this handout on paperboard stock.

Tallie and Alfred have provided further support to these patrons by email, in person visits, and telephone.
We continue to provide support to Bench to Bedside (B2B), the medical device competition. There were 28 teams that presented at the Competition Night on April 8, at the Utah State Capitol Rotunda. There were participants from five different Utah universities and one high school. The full details are available in the 2019 Competition Report and this video.
In 2019, Alfred and Tallie have taught or co-taught classes for Research Education, Colleges of Engineering, Health, and Business, workshops for our B2B students, undergraduate Innovation Scholars, undergraduate, and Honors courses, such as “Biomedical Engineering Design” and “Innovation Roadmap.” We also presented patent and patent searching basics at the Utah STEM Librarian Bootcamp in Salt Lake City, UT. Materials for some of these classes can be found on our Marriott Library Subject Guide. Both Alfred and Tallie continue to provide support in a variety of ways to the Center for Technology & Venture Commercialization (TVC). In 2019, the University of Utah was granted 54 patents and over 219 inventions were disclosed.
