Linda Kocis is the Intellectual Property Librarian at the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County. She oversees the Patent & Trademark Resource Center, which is housed in the Information & Reference Department at the Main Library in downtown Cincinnati. In addition to courses in patent and trademark searching, Linda meets with customers individually to answer all types of questions including those about filing applications. The Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County has been a member of the PTRC since the program started, and is lucky to have bound patents going back to the late 1840s. They even have British patents from 1640-1915.
The long serving Director of the Public Library of Cincinnati & Hamilton County, Kimber Fender, resigned in June of 2018, and was replaced by the internal candidate, Paula Brehm Heeger. Much of the year, therefore, was spent in an interim status while people were promoted and positions filled. In addition, the local Inventor’s Council of Cincinnati disbanded in December 2018 due to lack of new and young members. While still continuing to offer quarterly programs to attract independent inventors and entrepreneurs , Linda is hoping to network with the community in order to reach new IP customers who may not already now about the wealth of offerings at the Library.
