Representatives,
You, your colleagues, and customers have an exciting opportunity to share your thoughts regarding the current usage of the Patent and Trademark Depository Library network and your wishes for the next generation of PTDL services directly to David Kappos, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The USPTO will be holding a Director’s Roundtable at our Alexandria, VA. headquarters on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 in the Madison Auditorium on the concourse level. The Director’s Roundtable on the Patent and Trademark Depository Library Program will also be webcast so you don’t have to attend in person to participate. To join the webcast of the meeting enter https://uspto.connectsolutions.com/ptdlp021511/ . The Roundtable will begin at 1:30 PM (Eastern Time) and end at approximately 3:00 PM.

The Roundtable will be an active discussion among participants rather than a program of prepared presentations. If your library is able to send someone, I ask that you contact me so that we may include you in the list of attendees.

For those not able to access webcasts we will have limited call in capability. Please contact me directly regarding this possibility. In addition, you may submit written suggestions or comments in advance to [email protected] (note underline between “PTDL” and “comments”). You may also submit written comments after the Roundtable until the March 17, 2011 deadline, but submission prior to the Roundtable on February 15 will add to the live discussion topics.

Details regarding the roundtable will be available in the Federal Register on February 8, 2011.

This is a unique chance for you and your PTDL patrons to have a direct say about the current use of the PTDLs and how to more effectively use PTDLs in the future. We greatly value your input and look forward to your participation.

Looking forward to hear from you.
