The State of Arizona Research Library is a law and government documents library that is a part of the Secretary of State’s Office. The library maintains extensive collections of Arizona Newspapers, State Government Publications, Arizona Law, and an Arizona Collection of materials about Arizona and Southwest History. The library is also a Regional Federal Depository Library. Over the past year, the library has relocated its public services from the Historic State Capitol Building to the Polly Rosenbaum Archives and History Building at 1901 W. Madison St. Phoenix, AZ 85009. Our PTRC “nook” is in the reading room which was recently refitted with new furniture and shelving.
While moving efforts have slowed our in-house public programming, we have presented on Patent and Trademark basics at several public libraries around the Phoenix metro area. We have also partnered with the In House Counsel Pro Bono Commission of the Association for Corporate Counsel, Arizona Chapter to arrange and host “Start-Up Law Talk” panel discussions in area public libraries. PTRC Representative Peter Grant organized a panel of area Business Librarians to present before the Inventors Association of Arizona on library resources for inventors and entrepreneurs. In addition, for the first time since our PTRC was formed in 2013, we have trained an additional staff member, Chad Deets, to assist customers.
