It has been a wonderful year at the Akron, OH PTRC!
We continue to teach 2 monthly programs…Introduction to Intellectual Property and Introduction to Patents and Patent Searching. We seem to have had an increase in attendance these last few months, which has truly enriched our programs. I credit this to our local Akron SCORE group who is a wonderful partner in advertising our programs as well as our new events calendar sign up through the Akron Summit County Public Library website. We also coordinate with a local Patent Attorney from Renner & Kenner LPA who has generously donated their time to provide pro bono help to our local inventors on a quarterly basis throughout the year.
It has been a full year for us as we have hosted the Akron Inventors Club, attended meetings with our local Akron Makerspace, worked with our Microbusiness Specialist Traci Williams, and continue to cultivate new relationships with groups like the Well-Tool Library. We are always encouraging our local inventors and providing them with the tools and knowledge to succeed.
Some great things that have happened throughout the year are our local Akron MakerSpace has moved to a bigger and better location allowing them to offer even more amazing tools for people to use. We have a new head of Techzone, Dawn Mehann. The Techzone is located in the library and houses out own makerspace. We are also getting a new Public Service Assistant Charmaine Barnes in Science & Technology Division. Curtis and I look forward to introducing her to the world of patents.
Our patent librarians are Curtis Bower and Stephanie Jolliff. We look forward to the upcoming webinars and WebX learning opportunities and can’t wait to see everyone at the next 2021 conference.
